Day trip: Gorilla Trekking Experience at Volcanoes National Park & Return to Kigali
At 04:00 Am, a driver-guide from Vazquez Tours & Travel Ltd will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali. He will provide you with a short briefing about your tour before driving you to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda. The park is home to Rwanda’s famous mountain gorillas and a myriad of spectacular wildlife. The journey is a stunning 2hrs 30 minutes’ drive north, taking you through the lush green landscapes of the countryside.
Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park headquarters, meet your experienced guide and attend a briefing on the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. You will also be divided into groups of 8 individuals and assigned a specific gorilla family to visit.
After briefing, you will embark on a trek through the lush forest, guided by your experienced ranger. The length and difficulty of the trek can vary depending on the location of the gorilla family you are visiting, but it typically takes between 1 to 4 hours of walking to find the gorillas.
Once you find the gorillas, you will spend an hour observing them and their behaviors while taking photographs and videos. It’s important to follow the instructions of your ranger guide, maintain a safe distance of at least 7 meters from the gorillas, and keep your voices low. After your time with the gorillas, you will return to the starting point of the trek where you meet your driver guide and transfer to the restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, you will commence your return journey to Kigali city. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be transferred either to your hotel or to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to your driver-guide as you conclude your unforgettable trip.
The day’s meal plan includes a delicious lunch accompanied by a refreshing soft drink.
